September 17, 2014 — The following was released by The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation (NMSF):
The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation is now accepting Letters of Intent for its annual Hollings Grants program. Hollings grants are funded by NMSF’s Ernest F. Hollings Ocean Awareness Trust Fund. The program supports projects, through a competitive grants program, that increase awareness of critical ocean and Great Lakes issues and promote action for ocean conservation through national marine sanctuaries. NMSF is interested in innovative projects that engage the public in compelling ocean stewardship issues and that motivate effective and focused action to benefit national marine sanctuaries.
The Hollings grants primary focus is on projects addressing these core issues: Marine Debris, Human Interaction with Marine Mammals, Oceans and Human Health, Runoff and Pollution, Ocean Acidification, and Sustainable Fisheries. However, projects are not required to address these issues to be considered for funding. Primary eligibility is based on the connection projects have to national marine sanctuaries and encouraging active public ocean stewardship.
