August 25, 2014 — An oceans policy group in Washington is downplaying American Samoa’s concerns over President Obama’s proposed expansion of the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument.

Island governors, lawmakers and others are making their concerns known to President Obama.
But expansion supporters are also expected to have Obama's ear on his proposed expansion of the Pacific Remote Islands Marine Monument.
Michael Gravitz is with the non-profit Marine Conservation Institute.
But Gravitz claims neither the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council or the Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission has the data.
