August 21, 2014 — The following was released by the New England Fishery Management Council:
In preparation for the upcoming peer review of the 2014 Gulf of Maine cod assessment update, the Assessment Oversight Panel will meet with peer reviewers and New England Fishery Management Council staff for a planning meeting on Friday August 22 from 10AM to noon. This will provide staff with the opportunity to ask questions about the assessment and highlight any concerns prior to the peer review. Management implications of the results will not be discussed.
The meeting is open to the public in listening mode. The peer review itself will be held on August 28 and 29 in Portsmouth NH. Opportunities for public input and comment have been included into the agenda for that meeting.
Details on how to participate in tomorrow's meeting, along with additional information, can be found at http://www.nefsc.noaa.gov/saw/cod/ under the title "Gulf of Maine Cod 2014 Assessment Update 2014.”
