August 5, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 49,100 pounds of fish and 68,700 pounds of scallops Friday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Scrod haddock: 19,300 pounds ($1.13)
Scallops, 10 to 20 Mid Atlantic: 13,600 pounds ($12.05)
Scallops, U12 Mid Atlantic: 12,500 pounds ($14.48)
Scallops, 10 to 20 Closed Area II: 11,700 pounds ($13.05)
Scallops, U10 Georges: 25,900 pounds ($15.58)
Small haddock: 8,400 pounds (65 cents)
The Portland, Maine, Display Auction handled 47,900 pounds of fish and 900 pounds of scallops Sunday.
