May 14, 2014 — The following was released by the New England Fishery Management Council:
The New England Fishery Management Council is seeking candidates from observer service provider companies to participate on a newly-formed Observer Advisory Committee. Initially, the Observer Committee will provide input regarding the ongoing development of the NMFS-led omnibus Industry-Funded Monitoring Amendment. Over time, the Committee may address a wider range of issues related to fisheries sampling and monitoring (including electronic monitoring and portside sampling).
The Observer Committee is expected to be composed of about 15 members, including Council members as well as representatives from NOAA/NMFS, observer service provider companies, and Council Advisory Panels. Any interested candidates from observer provider companies should submit an Advisory Panel application to the Council office no later than COB May 19.
