April 11, 2014 — The Buyers And Sellers Exchange (BASE), an electronic auctioning company that sells landings at owner Whaling City Seafood Display Auction in New Bedford, Boston’s Whaling City Auction, and Gloucester’s Whaling City Auction, handled 131,200 pounds of fish and 64,400 pounds of scallops Wednesday.
Top species landed and average prices were:
Small haddock: 27,900 pounds (61 cents)
Sea scallops 10 to 20 Mid Atlantic: 26,900 pounds ($12.35)
Scrod haddock: 25,100 pounds ($1.69)
Sea scallops U12 Channel: 17,900 pounds ($16.65)
Large monktail: 12,200 pounds ($3.42)
