December 13, 2013 — The following was released by the Northeast Regional Planning Body (RPB):
Here are a couple of updates on upcoming Northeast regional ocean planning activities.
First, the next Northeast Regional Planning Body (RPB) meeting will be held on January 22-23, 2014 (starting at 10:00 am on the 22nd), at the Hyatt Regency Cambridge located at 575 Memorial Drive, Cambridge, Massachusetts. Please register here to indicate your attendance at this meeting.
An agenda and materials for the meeting will be posted online in early January. As a reminder, a main focus of the meeting will be discussion and approval of regional ocean planning goals and objectives and moving forward with the associated work plan (see the draft goals + objectives document posted online).
The following meetings provide additional opportunities for discussion prior to the RPB meeting:
– Connecticut: December 18 (10:30 – 11:30) at the CT Department of Transportation Headquarters Building, Conference Room B, 2800 Berlin Turnpike, Newington (this meeting will directly follow the CT Maritime Commission meeting. While the meeting is open and registration is not required, we’d appreciate if you could indicate your interest in attending by sending an email to Brian Thompson at brian.thompson@ct.gov.)
– New Hampshire: December 18 (beginning at 6:00 pm), Port Advisory Council meeting at the New Hampshire Port Authority, 555 Market Street, Portsmouth.
– Rhode Island: December 19 (beginning at 4:00 pm) at the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography, Narragansett Bay Campus Coastal Institute, Large Conference Room.
Finally, we want to inform you of an upgrade to the Northeast Ocean Data Portal, including enhanced interactive maps and a redesigned home page. The new interactive maps make it simpler to visualize data for key themes and provide additional information describing each map and dataset. Users can also move seamlessly from the simpler thematic maps to the more comprehensive Data Explorer, where the entire data catalog is available along with access to a range of external data sources.
