October 11, 2013 — The following was released by NOAA Fisheries:
Today NOAA Fisheries announces the closure of the Atlantic Herring Fishery in Area 1A effective 0001 hours, October 15, 2013. Vessels issued Federal Atlantic herring permits may not fish for, catch, possess or land more than 2,000 lb of herring from Area 1A per trip or calendar day, beginning October 15, 2013, until June 1, 2014. However, vessels that have entered port before 0001 hr on October 15, 2013, may offload and sell, from that trip, more than 2,000 lb of herring from Area 1A after the closure.
