September 25, 2013 — The newly-formed citizen group Sea Commons will host the opening night of the DoctoberFest Documentary Film Festival at the Cape Ann Community Cinema at 21 Main Street in Gloucester on Tuesday, October 1 at 7:30pm. Sea Commons will present the new documentary Ocean Frontiers: The Dawn of a New Era in Ocean Stewardship (www.Ocean-Frontiers.org ) and host a panel discussion with local and regional stakeholders after the film.
Tickets are doubly-discounted at just $5.00, and can be purchased in advance at the Cinema or online at www.CapeAnnCinema.com. Tickets may also be purchased at the door, first-come, first-served.
Ocean Frontiers is a documentary film about future ocean management planning efforts that will have a dramatic impact to all people, not just our fishing communities. Ocean Frontiers presents one perspective and makes the argument that better management decisions can utilize multiple ocean uses. Ocean Frontiers is a film that should be seen by all coastal communities to learn the implications of “marine spatial planning.”
Sea Commons, the sponsor of the film, is a group of concerned Gloucester citizens interested in promoting a regional dialogue/public forum about the future of our Seas, the last public commons.
