Local fishermen have a chance Today, from 3 to 5 p.m., to sound off on the state of the local groundfish industry and to learn about assistance available.
The forum's dial in number is 888-989-2282 and the pass code is "fishing."
John Bullard, Northeast regional administrator for NOAA Fisheries, is hosting an open conference call to solicit feedback from fishermen and other stakeholders on the draft Working Document on Resources to Support the Northeast Groundfish Industry.
Fishermen can dial in from 3 to 5 p.m. by calling 888-989-3382; the pass code is "fishing."
The working document is a compilation of some information and ideas to help this industry maintain its viability through these challenging times.
It is a starting point from which industry members, government agencies, elected officials, non-governmental organizations, and others can take action to help preserve this fishery, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
