May 16, 2013 — If you are an aquaculture operator, it is very important that you participate in the 2012 Census of Agriculture to ensure that you receive the 2013 Census of Aquaculture. USDA is still accepting feedback… make sure your operation is counted!
The Censuses of Agriculture and Aquaculture provide the only source of comprehensive and impartial agricultural and aquaculture data for every county in the nation. The Census of Aquaculture provides detailed, comprehensive production and economic data on the aquaculture industry. It expands the scope of data relating to the industry beyond the annual catfish and trout programs.
By responding as an aquaculture operator to the Census of Agriculture, you will ensure that you receive the follow-on Census of Aquaculture questionnaire, to be sent later in 2013.
Through the Census, aquaculture producers can show the nation the value and importance of aquaculture in providing jobs and a safe, healthy, local source of seafood. By responding to the Census, aquaculture producers are helping themselves, their communities, and all U.S. farm producers.
