April 15, 2013 — The following was released by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
In December 2012, ASMFC elected to reduce the coast wide harvest of menhaden by 20%.
The reduction was taken from the average, coast wide harvest of menhaden that occurred between 2009 and 2011 which was approximately 471 million pounds.
A 20% reduction from this amount results in coast wide quota of approximately 377 million pounds.
